CREATING OBJECTS THAT TELL STORIES

CREATING OBJECTS THAT TELL STORIES

Analising objects can tell us anything in most of the cases. According to Yves Behar, observation is a way to unfold stories behind a form. With a talk at TED, Behar represent the a close aproach to humannised design. With the presentation of some of his amazing projects, he walks us through the understanding of how design’s pourpose is to make a better world.

With a young start in design Yves became a frustrated designer following concepst whith which he disagreed & started desinigns on his own. He became a lover a valuable design which is more in touch with human needs. With the pride of independence came the liberty to produce designs that are admirable. At TED he showed some of his most admirable designs in between which he talked about his Mini Couper watch that can show the time in various x or y axis; a portable folding chair which also can be used as a table; a leaf lamp that has not just a brightness adjustment but also the colour of the light can be toned.

A remarcable project presented in this talk is a bottle of water designed for children, which has a simetrical shape with three equal extremes. Its design is in touch with the playgrond feeling, with brigh colours & a ability to become a toy as it can join with other bottles & become a playfull structure.

Also it shoud be highlighted the splendid figh that Behar has trying to change the world with design. A presentation of a laptop made for kids that is aided to regions that are in difficult conditions. The name for this laptop is XO, come in playfull colours & has all that the advantages that behar could come alog with. Yves Behar has fought a battle with his team to present a product that helps the needs of the user & his/her community & not to let the mass production sickness come along a cheapen up this product.

Talks like this one reminds us that bit by bit we can make a change & that designers are working for value in their designs & hopefully all together the value for our products will ave an outcome of a better world.
